CELEBRATING 50 YEARS MANUFACTURING
1959 — 2009
We are delighted to be celebrating 50 years in business this year. The Company was started by entrepreneur Jack Dawkins in April 1959 and was named Diagrit Electrometallics Limited. Jack was joined by Des Franks (Diamond Des), who had previously worked for another diamond tool company, and other directors followed not long after.
In 1983 Diagrit Electrometallics acquired Kendia Diamond Products and the company’s name was changed to DK Holdings Limited. Jack stepped down as Managing Director and Harry Hicks, from Sandvik, was appointed as Managing Director and steered the Company for 25 years to achieve the success gained to date. Harry retired in May 2008 and Brian Salter (our previous Financial Director) is now in the chair! Brian is supported by Dave Smart – Production Director, Tim Jessop – Sales and Marketing Director and a team of five managers.
At the beginning, only electroformed diamond drills, grinding wheels and routers were manufactured mainly for the UK market and the Company employed just a few people. Now DK employs over 100 members of staff, exports to over 48 countries worldwide and manufactures a huge range of diamond tools for cutting, drilling, profiling, grinding and polishing into the Composites, Stone, Glass, Floor, Hard Metals and Ceramics industries.
We have been very innovative in introducing new products into the market and continue to have an apprenticeship scheme for young people. The next 50 years will see the introduction and the manufacturing of new generations of diamond tools based on developments with even greater levels of performance than we experience at this present time. DK Holding expects to be selling more and more products into other markets and in order to develop our business further we will continue our strong working relationships with our Customers, Distributors and Suppliers.

Phone, Fax or E- mail your order through to our sales department before 12.00pm for same day despatch on certain stocked items when you hold an approved credit account. For non account holders we will despatch on receipt of payment. Cheques and credit card/debit payments accepted.
